Project Description
This James Leahy & Associates designed 6800 sq. ft. house in Cork was a part demolition and part restoration of a Listed building overlooking the River Lee in Cork.
Works included the addition of a 1130 sq. ft. contemporary extension which houses a new hydrotherapy pool and sauna. A Zinc roof, fascia’s and rainwater goods help to highlight the new from the old. The existing basement was doubled in size from 15 – 30m2.
Due to its inclusion on the National Inventory of Architectural Heritage, the use of lime mortars, fibrous plaster cornices and wooden sliding sashes was a necessity.
Works began in March 2014 and the clients moved in before Christmas 2014 ahead of schedule.
